Earth Day 2021

PHRC 2020-2021 Results

The 2020-2021 Planetary Health Report Card is here! Since publication of our inaugural 2019-2020 report card, we have expanded our initiative to include 62 medical schools in the USA, UK, Ireland, and Canada advocating for institutional change in five domains: curriculum, research, community engagement and advocacy, support for student-led initiatives, and sustainability. Please visit the Planetary Health Report Card website to see the 2021 summary report, individual school-specific reports, and more information about the initiative!

Take Action for Earth Month

Action 1: Assess your knowledge of the clinical impacts of climate change

The first step toward climate action is understanding the problem.

We are excited to share with you a self-assessment that highlights the connections between climate change and health! We hope this clinically-based quiz will be an easy, meaningful way for healthcare students and professionals to learn about disease patterns, health, and justice concerns related to climate change, and to feel empowered to participate in climate advocacy on Earth Day and every day.

Please share this short quiz with the faculty and students in your medical school and healthcare networks. The quiz takes 5-10 minutes to complete. We welcome and encourage participation from all healthcare practitioners, researchers, and students!

Take the Self-Quiz

Responses will be collected through May 5th. If you have any questions or would like to connect with the student team behind the effort, you can reach them at ms4sf.med@gmail.com.

Action 2: Advocate for bold climate policy that promotes health and justice

This Earth Day falls at a pivotal time for national policymaking on climate change and environmental justice! The diversity of our network in terms of geography and identity makes contacting our elected officials collectively powerful. Use this script to contact your legislators today!
